The analysis of inflow conditions plays a crucial role in accurately simulating atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) flows.

The atmospheric boundary layer, the lowermost portion of the Earth’s atmosphere directly influenced by the underlying surface, exhibits complex and dynamic behavior. Understanding and characterizing the inflow conditions that govern the ABL flow is crucial for achieving realistic and reliable simulations. Especially when investigating transient flow conditions such as wind induced pressure distribution in structures, for dynamic analysis.

Inflow analysis refers to the comprehensive examination of the incoming flow parameters that impact the simulation domain. This involves a detailed investigation into the velocity profiles and turbulence characteristics of the incoming air injected into the numerical domain.

The accuracy of these inflow conditions significantly influences the fidelity of CFD simulations, as discrepancies in the representation of the atmospheric boundary layer can lead to inaccurate predictions and compromise the reliability of the results.
